By being a patient at Cura, you are automatically part of the Cura family and are part of the global giving projects that support health, wellness and empowerment. So a big thank you to our patients!
We especially support projects which support the wellness of children and families. Let’s face it, if we build the health and well-being of children before disease starts, we can set them up for a healthier future. It will be a win-win and the future will be brighter!
When you empower and educate children around the globe and teach the importance of a healthy diet and lifestyle, this too can ripple throughout their life ahead.
Prevention is better than cure, right?
We are committed to making the world a better place for everyone.
Cura is a certified lifetime member of Buy1Give1 - B1G1. We wanted to give something back, and allow our patients to do the same without thinking about it :-)
And thank you for your help in lifting health and wellness for everyone around the globe!
Cura Medicine is a certified giving business with B1G1 and with the help of our patients we have given to a range of health charities around
the world with contributions growing each day. We help a range of causes, including parasite treatment to children in India, vitamin
supplements to pregnant women in Africa and clean drinking water in Africa.
Rain in Turkana is a rare event and thus the locals often lack access to a water source. You can provide a person with water for one day by lending your support in the construction of water infrastructure such as a borehole. Boreholes are sunk deep into the ground to reach the water table and are able to supply water for the locals and livestock throughout the year, creating a more sustainable lifestyle for the community.
Access to safe drinking water is the foundation to address the issues of health, education, food, and livelihood. This water is provided via the means of a Bio-Sand Water Filter (BSF) that lasts up to two decades, or more, and is able to provide safe water for an entire family. A BSF is a point-of-use water treatment system adapted from traditional slow sand filters. Your support provides clean water for an entire family through a BSF.
Vitamin-A is an essential nutrient vital to the proper function of immune and ocular (visual) systems, and must be obtained through diet since the body does not produce it. Vitamin-A deficiencies (VAD) cause over 200,000 children to die each year and millions more to go blind, 90% of whom did not have to die or lose their sight. To prevent childhood morbidity and mortality, WHO recommends vitamin-A supplementation (VAS) every 4-6 months for all children aged 6-59 months, in areas where VAD is a public health problem. Your support to this project prevents vitamin-A deficiency in children
Imagine being a child in Africa whose stomach is bloated from malnutrition or only being able to eat one meal of maize porridge on a good day. Many impoverished children suffer from diseases of malnutrition and lack the access to nutritious food. Make an impact by giving parents one year's supply of seeds to grow healthy crops, so that they can feed and sustain their children day after day.
Owning a goat not only improves family nutrition through the consumption of highly nutritious goat milk, but also helps generate a livelihood through the sale of extra milk and offspring. This unique project also employs a zero-grassing management system which reduces and controls the destructive nature of goats to field crops and trees. The collection of manure and urine from goats also helps promote kitchen gardening and enhances fodder production to feed the goats.
Malaria kills over 400 000 people per year and over 200 million people fall ill. 70% of the deaths are children under 5; and malaria is the world's single largest killer of pregnant women. The most effective means of prevention is sleeping under a mosquito net, treated with long-lasting insecticide. These nets can be distributed for just $5.52 per net. Your support would provide bednets for children at-risk of malaria, saving the lives of people who could otherwise have contracted malaria and died.
